柿子园Shiziyuan (Persimmon Garden) – Worth to Visit in Auckland
Do you enjoy eating persimmons?...............
I bet you are! Then you will love fruit picking at Shiziyuan (Persimmon Garden)
in Hellensville, Auckland.
Originally, persimmon is a native
fruit in Japan, China, Korea, Myanmar and Nepal. It is known as Shizi in Chinese,
and I guess Yuan means Garden in Chinese. It’s been introduced to NZ by Chinese migrant living
in NZ hence the fruits are ripe during Autumn.
Getting Here:
It took us about 1 Hour drive
from Auckland City to the Garden located in Helensville. We passed by another PYO
farms of strawberry and grape on the way to Shiziyuan. The journey is really thrilling,
and you will not feel bored with beautiful scenery of Northern Region.
Shiziyuan:
Picking fruit is free, you just need to pay $2.50 per kilo
if you want to buy the persimmons. You may also feed the cows, enjoy the doves
and of course enjoy the rural area. Parking is available near the garden and
its free.

as the mobile coverage is not optimum in the rural area.
Why its Best?
Persimmon fruits or ‘Pisang Kaki’ is expensive in Malaysia. RM
1 per piece. So, getting a chance eating persimmon here is heaven. Our stomach
is bloated with persimmons. HAHAHAHAH.
Never mind, its high in important vitamins and minerals,
including vitamins A, C and B, potassium and manganese. They also contain
beneficial plant compounds like tannins and flavonoids.
Here some of the pictures of our Trip last Autumn.
