Are you allowed to work under Visitor Visa?
As you might be aware, at the moment I’m writing
this entry, Malaysians are given a Visa on Arrival (VOA) when entering NZ and
allowed to stay maximum 3 months. Under Visitor Visa you are not allowed to work
or study in the country. Well… this is not news.
So here I wanna share, There are some cases
that visitors are allowed to work. One of way is for visitor to apply legally
from Immigration of New Zealand and apply for “Varying the conditions of a temporary
visa”. You may apply for variation of condition when your work, student or visitor
visa no
longer suit your situation.
First example, You can change the condition of your
visiting visa to allow longer term study or seasonal work in horticulture or viticulture
industries. How cool is that! Of coz, don’t expect for professional
work. That’s a different visa needed like skilled migrant category , work visa
,essential working visa etc... You may refer that at my previous post how
do I find professional job in NZ in this link : 7 Things that
I've done to find job in NZ
Horticulture:
Horticulture
has been defined as the culture of plants for food, comfort and beauty.[1] A
more precise definition can be given as "The cultivation, processing, and
sale of fruits, nuts, vegetables, ornamental plants, and flowers as well as
many additional services".[2] It also includes plant conservation, landscape
restoration, soil management, landscape and garden design, construction, and
maintenance, and arboriculture. In contrast to agriculture, horticulture does
not include large-scale crop production or animal husbandry. - Wikipedia

Viticulture:
Viticulture
(from the Latin word for vine) is the cultivation and harvesting of grapes. It
is a branch of the science of horticulture. While the native territory of Vitis
vinifera, the common grape vine, ranges from Western Europe to the Persian
shores of the Caspian Sea, the vine has demonstrated high levels of
adaptability to new environments. For this reason, viticulture can be found on
every continent except Antarctica- - Wikipedia

Secondly, if you are in New Zealand under student visa, You
may apply for variation of condition visa to allow you to change the course
that you are studying. However, you need to apply for the variation of
condition visa first, before you change your study course. If not, you are
consider breaching the current visa and you may become liable for deportation.
Careful students!
The third reason, people who coming to New Zealand under work
visa may also apply for this variation when they intend to change occupation. Some
work visa has specified your occupation, employer and location of your work.
What’s the criteria to apply? How to apply? How much the fee?
I know by now, you might ask about above
questions. Let’s don't confuse yourself, My intention is not to advising you
the 'How', I’m just sharing you the 'What''. Want to know more, please visit
